Christmas and 2009 approaching soon ...

Howdy mates! How's the wind in the sails?

Hahaha ok i shall desist LOL

Anyway, Christmas is approaching in 5 days, and the year 2009 will arrive in 11 days! Soooooo exciting!

Just like to say, the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and His precious gift of salvation, grace, forgiveness, hope, joy etc etc ... to the world! For each and everyone one of you :)

So please dun forget the true meaning of Christmas! Such as embracing the world's marketing strategy of santa claus (sorry kiddies, but he does not exist and his fictional) ... And celebrate with me the joy of the Christmas season!!

And fast approaching on the heels of Christmas is the new year!! woohoo! A new year, meaning new breakthroughs! I pray that everyone has breakthroughs in their families, friends, work, school, relationships and everything in their personal lives.

Let's start our new year with a new slate and a fresh state of mind! Always remember that the pen (or any writing utensil you like) is in your own hand for the new blank page! ... Those who are not very "litty", I just mean the choices and decisions you make would determine the direction of your life!

So thank You Lord for this wonderful year of 2008, with its ups and downs, but with You never leaving my side. May we draw closer and fall deeper in love with Him this coming new year!

~ For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future ~ Jeremiah 29:11 Amen!!

我一直都在

My dad heard about my interest in songwriting and of the two songs i wrote and posted on my blog... He encouraged me and suggested that i write a song in mandarin.

I thought, why not? i love chinese songs too :)

So whilst I am having the flu right now, the Lord gave me this song last night when i could not sleep ... It shows the heartbeat of our heavenly Father :)

我一直都在 Copyright: Dawn Ang ©

Bendemeer Hawker Centre

I highly recommend this hawker centre at 31 & 32 Bendemeer road. (XQ, its just down the road from your house!)

The place is not overly crowded and you can get seats very easily even during the lunch hour. As for the food ... cheap and delicious!!!

My dad loves the chicken rice stall in the second lane, which only opens after 12pm. You get a good portion of chicken with very fragrant rice (comes with soup too i think) for only $2.00!!

Next to the chicken rice stall is my grandfather's favourite curry rice stall. He always orders the curry beef cubes dish because the beef is extremely tender *yumz*

Next to the curry rice stall is a soybean/grass jelly drink stall. I tried the soybean curd (tau hui) because i wasn't full and woohoo! Its solid tau hui and it tastes so good! (Not those milky no quality ones if you are a tau hui partaker LOL) And the syrup wasn't too sweet (which turns me off) ... After i emptied the bowl, this was my reaction - *floats* haha

Opposite the tau hui stall is a stall that sells mee siam ... which as you might have expected, is magnificent. you can't miss it, there's always a queue there :) Best mee siam i've eaten!

In the next lane, there is a prawn noodle store which i just tried today. The broth is thicker than normal prawn noodle broths (the normal ones are too bland). The prawns and meat are very fresh too! yumz yumz

In the same lane is the Amigo stall selling fishball noodles. Order their mee pok noodles dry with a little chilli and fishball soup at the side. lovely, people, just lovely :)

After a nice lunch/dinner, those who enjoy drinking coffee or tea ... My dad (the teh-si expert), recommends the drinks stall just next to the chain of chickenrice/curryrice/tauhui stalls :)

Thank You Lord for letting us find this place! Enjoy!

Classical Music ...

Well .. I have always appreciated classical music, especially during the days of my 'O' levels haha. Cause its proven that when listening to classical music, your brain cells are stimulated and you can study alot better LOL.

But I confessed I have been out of touch for a few years ...

Thank the Lord for Nodame Cantabile though! I fell in love with classical music all over again! The music just got to me haha. Poring over a score, practising frequently with lotsa patience and perseverance, tinkling or banging on the ivory keys etc etc ...

And most importantly, the end product of the song being played according to what the composer wants ... and i must stress - WITHOUT desecrating the piece and causing the composer to turn in his grave *looks pointedly at sis*

Anyway, I have mastered the first movement of M.Clementi's piano sonatina Op.36 No.6! It is a lovely piece that is joyful, bouncy and lively - something i really like :) I just need to work on my dynamics hee hee

Now I am attempting Mozart's Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Twelve Variations ... which seems simple but requires a lot of technique ...

And maybe hopefully one day i can play with my sis in a place that has 2 pianos - Mozart's Piano Sonata for 2 in D Major.

Thank you Lord for the music, the songs i'm singing. Thanks for all the joy they're bringing. Who can live without it, i ask in all honesty! Without a song or a dance, what are we? So I say thank you Lord for the music, for giving it to me!! *huggiez*

To wrap it all up ... minNA-san, ganBAtte KUdasai! (say it with a caucasian accent)

Nodame Cantabile

I highly recommend everyone to watch this show! I personally prefer the live action drama, but if you prefer anime then go ahead too! Its a super hilarious, fun-loving, music related show :)

Its a Japanese drama/anime about Nodame and Chiaki-senpai. Nodame is a talented pianist, while Chiaki is a talented pianist/violinist/conductor hehe ... Nodame is extremely weird and eccentric, while Chiaki is a rich handsome guy with a bit of an arrogant character. Watch how their love blossoms and the splendid music the show produces!

I would recommend the live drama because real people acting can portray the feelings better ... And also because the live drama has an incentive in the form of Chiaki-senpai ...

New experience ...

New food experience to report! haha

Yesterday was a wonderful day spent with the Choo family, very long never see them, let alone hang out with them :) Although poor Luke was knocked out from his flu medicine poor boy... Luke get well asap and all the best for your 'O' levels!!!

We met for lunch ... and boy what a lunch! First we had fish head curry at Siglap. oooh sedap, very long never eat already so shiok! Then we went to Kiliney Kopitiam to have drinks ... where Uncle Seow Patt went to buy his and dad's favourite Indian food for me to try.

It's called Vadai (pronounced ve-day and not va-die) hmm how to describe ... its like a fried cracker with stuff inside and small prawns on top. And you eat it with raw green chilli with each bite!! woohoo! Almost died when i bit on a chilli seed, but other than that it was delicious and a wonderful experience for me :) Really thankful for the time of great fellowship together, I enjoyed myself tremendously!!

Since I came back I have been "sua-ku-ly" trying new food ... because I did not use to be so adventurous when I was younger. Probably when I was a little tot, my parents did let me try, but I was too young to remember ... So I have tried rambutan (lovely!) and mangosteen (yumz!) ... durian of course I remember, that fruit once you try I think you will remember the taste and smell until the day you see the Lord haha! I like durian though, just not too much cause its so heaty!

But apparently I need to try harder cause I haven't tried so much stuff! like murtabak, roti john, etc etc etc. People are so shocked when I ask "whats that" haha ... so I need to work harder in becoming a full fledged singaporean! yosh!!

End of school semester ...

*sighz* Last week was my last day of school for this semester ... The next semester starts in March because from Nov to Feb is the internship period - which I am exempted from yahoo!

Soooooo ... I was a bit sad at the last day of school. Told classmates "see you next year!" sounded so sad to me! But at least still can meet up with pearlin melissa etc... Oooh and congrats Melissa on your internship placement!! Prayers move mountains! Romans 8:28 yah!!

Whats left is just this really huge project for my events module ... its not difficult, its actually very simple ... But very very VERY tedious. You literally need to sit down for hours over a span of few days to slowly complete it. Cause there's so much stuff to do! Gantt charts, running sheets, cue sheets, loadsa maps, wordy stuff etc etc etc

Lord, help me!
